Sussex Lawyers Rix & Kay support 2009 Catlin Arctic Survey Expedition
24 September 2008
Leading Sussex based law firm Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP, is delighted to announce that it is supporting a major scientific expedition to the North Pole to capture vitally needed data for scientists studying the impact of global warming on the Arctic ice cap.
Expedition leader, explorer and environmentalist Pen Hadow said that the aim of the Arctic Survey is to measure the exact thickness of the permanent Arctic ice and so determine more accurately the rate at which it is melting.
From the start Rix & Kay has been acting as the official legal advisers to the expedition. The firm’s professional support includes dealing with detailed sponsorship agreements, unique employment contracts and advising generally on legal issues.
“If we discover the North Pole ice cap really is melting as fast as some experts fear,” Pen Hadow explained, “Then this survey will provide a decisive wake-up call for political leaders everywhere to take urgent action.”
“Given the urgency of the debate on climate change we are excited to be involved with this very important expedition,” says Bruce Hayter, Rix & Kay managing partner, “The firm’s support reflects our concerns about global climate change.”
The deputy leader of the Catlin Arctic Survey expedition is Ann Daniels. Ann will be available at the firm’s annual Sports Conference at the University of Brighton, where she will be the principal speaker.
